Art Imitates Life
Eastwood’s film ‘Play Misty for Me’ dealt with stalking, but in real life, the actor-turned-director has had his own experiences with it. In 2011, a man named Eric James Chisum broke into Eastwood’s home and claimed to be his son.
In 2014, Eastwood found himself saving a life instead of having his own life threatened. While playing at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament, the tournament’s director choked on some food. Eastwood jumped into action and performed the Heimlich maneuver on the man.
Eastwood served as a lifeguard and swim instructor in the U.S. Army in 1961. He put his swimming skills to the test when a plane he was on crashed into the San Francisco Bay. Eastwood had to swim a mile to shore.
Clint Eastwood, Pianist?
Few people know Eastwood is actually a talented musician. He plays the piano and even writes some of the scores for his films. During the mid-’90s, he even played a concert at Carnegie Hall.
In 1967, when Sean Connery decided he’d had enough of playing James Bond, David Niven took over. However, he was not necessarily the producers’ first choice. They wanted Eastwood, but he turned it down, stating that a British actor should play the part. He also turned down the role of Superman that went to Christopher Reeve.

Ever heard of the National Register of Big Trees? Eastwood has. In 2000, a tree on his property in Northern California was labeled the largest in the United States. Two years later, a bigger tree topped his, but still, that has got to be a big tree.
They divorced in 2013, but in 2012, Clint’s wife, Dina, had her own reality show. ‘Mrs. Eastwood & Company’ that focused on her life as the wife of one of Hollywood’s most famous men. Eastwood made a few appearances during the show’s short run.
As it turns out, Eastwood is allergic to horses, which is surprising considering the amount of westerns he films. However, he claims his dedication to his job helps him power through and play the parts anyway.
Eastwood is no stranger to politics. In 2012, he spoke at the Republican National Convention, and in 2014, he directed ‘American Sniper,’ a film many saw as a political statement. As it turns out, Eastwood himself is a politician. He served as mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California between 1986 and 1988.
After Clint Eastwood graduated high school, he gained employment at a number of places. Some of his odder job titles were logger, truck driver and firefighter.
Eastwood’s Big Break
Eastwood finally got his first big acting gig in 1959. He scored a starring role as Rowdy Yates in the TV show Rawhide. The show lasted until 1965.
One of Eastwood’s the most famous lines from the film “Dirty Harry” wasn’t even said by him. Most people think Inspector Harry Callahan says “Do you feel lucky, punk?”. What he actually says is “Being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya punk?”
Clint Eastwood directed and starred in the 2009 film “Gran Torino.” When the movie became number one in the U.S. box office, he became the oldest leading man to achieve that feat. He was 78 at the time and the movie grossed over $268 million worldwide.
Although only being married twice, Eastwood has seven kids with five different women.
